ACP celebrates winners of 2026 Herbert S. Waxman Chief Resident Teaching Scholarships

SAN FRANCISCO, April 14, 2026 – The American College of Physicians (ACP) is honoring six chief residents as winners of the Herbert S. Waxman Chief Resident Teaching Scholarships at Internal Medicine Meeting 2026, ACP’s annual scientific meeting taking place April 16-18, at the Moscone Convention Center. 

The 2026 chief resident awardees are: 

  • Maitri Acharekar, MD – Baton Rouge General Medical Center, Baton Rouge, LA 
  • Darious E. Chyou, MD – University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital Internal Residency Program and Miami VA Medical Center, Miami, FL 
  • Mohsin Dahodwala, MD – University of Illinois Hospital (IUC), Chicago IL  
  • Hillary Kieran Deveaux, MBBS – Advocate Christ Medical Center, Oak Lawn, IL 
  • Alexandra Schoenberger, MD, MSEd – University of Cincinnati and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, Cincinnati, OH
  • Dylan Walker, MD – San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium (SAUSHEC), San Antonio TX 

ACP established the Herbert S. Waxman Chief Resident Teaching Scholarships in 2014 to recognize outstanding chief medical residents and to provide them an opportunity to assist teaching popular workshops under the guidance and mentorship of expert faculty in the Clinical Skills Center at ACP’s annual scientific meeting. 

ACP’s Clinical Skills Center is a collection of educational activities that provide hand-on learning under the guidance of expert faculty, interactive self-study, and other events and exhibits designed to improve physician well-being and professional satisfaction.
