ACP Honors Internal Medicine Physicians, Celebrates Internal Medicine Day

PHILADELPHIA, October 21—The American College of Physicians will celebrate Internal Medicine Day on Tuesday, Oct. 28. This day recognizes internal medicine specialists and subspecialists and spotlights their invaluable contributions to equitable care and the field of medicine.

Internal medicine physicians fulfill a vital role in health care, serving as diagnosticians and treatment providers for diverse communities across the nation. ACP established Internal Medicine Day to honor these physicians, who the organization calls the backbone of preventive care and essential leaders in both clinical and academic medicine. At a time when the country faces a growing physician shortage, celebrating internal medicine physicians underscores the urgent need to support and strengthen this critical workforce.

“Internal medicine physicians address a broad and intricate range of health issues, using their expertise to diagnose and treat complex cases across a variety of clinical settings. Not only do they play crucial roles in the provision of care, but their work contributes to the very science that should ground health care policy,” says Jason Goldman, MD, MACP, President of ACP. “ACP is inspired by their tireless commitment to their patients.”

The hashtags for Internal Medicine Day are #InternalMedicineDay, #IMPhysician and #IMProud.
