Dear Colleagues,
I am delighted to reflect on the success of the ACP Saudi Arabia Chapter Annual Meeting. Bringing together our vibrant community of healthcare professionals, the event showcased the latest advancements in medicine through engaging lectures, hands-on workshops, and dynamic discussions.
The energy and dedication of our participants, speakers, and organizers made this meeting truly memorable. It was a privilege to witness the exchange of ideas, the forging of new collaborations, and the collective commitment to excellence in the medical field.

Workshop Highlights
The workshop at this year's ACP Saudi Arabia Chapter Annual Meeting offered participants a dynamic, hands-on experience, focusing on essential medical skills and techniques. Held over two days, Thursday and Friday, 5-6 September 2024, the workshop consisted of eight interactive stations led by esteemed instructors. Attendees gained practical knowledge and insights into cutting-edge practices in medicine, making the sessions both engaging and enriching for all participants.
Station 1: ECG Interpretation
Instructor: Dr. Suleiman Kharabsheh
Objectives Covered:
- Brief lecture on ECG basics.
- Hands-on practice with ECG machines.
- Group discussion on interpreting sample ECG strips.
Station 2: Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS)
Instructor: Dr. Weaam Alshenawy - Consultant, Adult ER
Objectives Covered:
- Introduction to POCUS and its applications.
- Demonstration of ultrasound techniques.
- Hands-on practice with guidance.
Station 3: Joint Aspiration
Instructor: Dr. Ibrahim Almulla - Fellow, Internal Medicine
Objectives Covered:
- Overview of indications and techniques for joint aspiration.
- Demonstration on models.
- Supervised hands-on practice
Station 4: Airway Management
Instructor: Dr. Yasser Tolba - Consultant, Intensivist
Objectives Covered:
- Introduction to airway management.
- Demonstration of intubation and bag-mask ventilation.
- Hands-on practice with feedback.
Station 5: Basic Suturing Techniques
Instructor: Dr. Ahmed Almumtin - Fellow, Vascular surgery

- Overview of wound closure techniques.
- Demonstration of various suturing methods.
- Hands-on suturing practice.
Station 6: Thoracocentesis
Instructor: Dr. Siraj Rajendram - Consultant, Internal Medicine & Intensive Care

- Anatomy and Landmarks Preparation and Sterility Procedure Technique

Station 7: Lumbar puncture

- Complication Management Documentation and Sample Handling
Station 8: Paracentesis
Instructor: Dr. Ibrahim Alomar – Fellow GI
Objectives Covered:
- Overview about Paracentesis
- Demonstration of Paracentesis techniques.
- Hands-on practice with machines.
Lecture Series Highlight
This year's ACP Saudi Arabia Chapter Annual Meeting featured an impressive lineup of over 25 lectures covering a wide range of medical topics. Delivered by distinguished consultants, these sessions provided attendees with valuable insights into the latest advancements and challenges in medicine.
We were especially honored by the presence of Prof. Khaled AlKattan Dean of the College of Medicine at Alfaisal University, who shared his expertise and inspired participants with his vision for the future of medical education and practice.
The diversity of topics and the exceptional quality of speakers ensured that every attendee left with a deeper understanding of emerging trends and best practices in healthcare.
Doctor's Dilemma Highlights
The Doctors' Dilemma competition at this year's ACP Saudi Arabia Chapter Annual Meeting brought together seven teams from cities across Saudi Arabia in an exciting contest of medical knowledge and quick thinking. Spanning two days, the competition followed a knockout format, with teams advancing through successive rounds of over 200 challenging medical questions. The event concluded with a thrilling final match, bringing the competition to a thrilling conclusion. The event was expertly judged by Dr. Khalid Almatham, Consultant in Nephrology, Dr. Ali Aljanoubi Consultant in Adult Critical Care Medicine, and supervised by ensuring a fair and rigorous evaluation of all participants.

Poster Competition and Lecture Series
The Poster Competition at this year's ACP Saudi Arabia Chapter Annual Meeting showcased over 40 posters presented over two days, highlighting diverse topics ranging from clinical research to basic laboratory investigations. The event provided an excellent platform for participants to share their work, gain feedback from experts, and engage in thought-provoking discussions.

Reflections from our Team
Participating in this event was a fulfilling opportunity to improve my organizational and collaboration abilities while also making a positive impact on the medical community. Volunteering at the registration area allowed me to interact with physicians and other professionals, thereby learning from their commitment and getting inspiration. The experience was both seamless and pleasurable due to the dedicated leaders and supportive committees. This occasion strengthened my enthusiasm for helping others and makes me want to participate in upcoming events and create closer relationships among medical professionals.
