Join us for our October Story Swap, Thursday, October 8, 7:00pm via Zoom. This month’s theme is “The Turning Point: A Moment That Changed Me.”
The featured speaker this month is Dr. Andrea Levine, a pulmonary and critical care physician and Critical Care Medicine Fellowship Program Director at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. She has spent years caring for critically ill patients and teaching residents. After facing a significant health challenge of her own, she has chosen to share how that experience changed her life and her perspective on medicine.

In this six-session experience, we will explore how rituals, shaped by both our roots (enculturation) and our interactions with new cultures (acculturation), influence our sense of identity, purpose, and belonging. Through powerful narrative presentations, speakers will share how their lived experiences have shaped not only who they are, but how they intentionally create spaces of belonging for others.

2027 ACP Maryland Medical Student Abstract Competition
The Maryland Chapter of the American College of Physicians is now accepting abstract submissions for the 2027 Student Abstract Competition which will be held on February 20, 2027, as part of the Richard B. Williams ACP Medical Student Conference at the Maryland Chapter Annual Scientific Meeting.
Poster Specifications
Posters must not exceed 42” in width and 30” in height, with a headline banner that lists the title, the authors, and their affiliations. Ensure your font size is appropriate, as posters should be readable by viewers up to five feet away.
Poster Tips
State a single concept, idea, question, or hypothesis that best defines your research.
- Double-space all text, using left-justification; text with even left sides and jagged right sides is easiest to read. Text should be read easily from at least 6 feet.
- Use Abbreviations where possible
- Use a neutral background (gray) to emphasize color in photos, a white background to reduce impact of colored photos.
- Use clear, self-explanatory graphics to help communicate key findings
A printed poster is not required. Printing the poster information on paper to use as the basis for your poster is acceptable. Doing this Will Not impact the judging of your poster.
The deadline for submissions is Monday February 15, 2027 at 11:59 PM (EST)

Workshop Playback: Navigating the Residency Interview

The ACP Maryland Chapter held a webinar, Navigating the Residency Interview Process, featuring residency program leaders from George Washington University/Sinai Hospital, the University of Maryland Medical Center Midtown Campus, and Johns Hopkins University.
During this interactive session, panelists discussed what residency programs value most in applicants, strategies for successful interviews, common mistakes to avoid, and answer questions from attendees.
