Candidate Bios

Candidate Statement: My involvement in the Texas Chapter of ACP spans over eighteen years. Throughout that time, I have had the privilege of serving on numerous committees and taking on leadership roles including President of the Services arm and President of the Chapter. I am also active on the National level and have served on the Medical Practice and Quality Committee for the past three years. Through these experiences, I have gained a wealth of understanding about policy, medical education, chapter operations, and the College which places me in an optimal position for the role of Governor. Over the years, my love for the College has grown and I have fostered friendships that I will forever cherish. Serving as Governor would give me the opportunity to give back to an organization that has given so much to me and has consistently demonstrated its commitment to physicians and their patients.

Candidate Statement: In June 2025 I will mark 30 years of dedicated service in Internal Medicine. My journey has included various leadership roles from serving as Chief of the Department of Medicine to Chief of the Medical Staff, as well as being involved in credentialing and quality assurance. Additionally, I have played a pivotal role in establishing and managing hospitalist programs. Currently I am deeply concerned about the increasing interference of health insurance companies in the patient-physician relationship, whether in clinics or hospitals. These companies often impose unnecessary requirements and, many times, deny services, which undermines effective patient care. My aspiration to serve as a governor stems from the desire to elevate this to the national stage and advocate for her significant stance by the American College of Physicians on this critical matter. Thank you.
