Chronic kidney disease (CKD) disproportionately impacts under-resourced and minoritized communities, with stark income and ethnic disparities in the U.S. Because CKD develops silently over decades and often isn't diagnosed until late stages, effective prevention requires studying early-stage CKD in high-risk, asymptomatic individuals. Building trust within these communities—who often have justified mistrust of healthcare systems—is essential for successful research and intervention efforts.

Learn about the brand new changes to the Texas Physician’s Non-Compete Statute (effective September 1). Karin will discuss the pro-physician reasons behind these important changes and how they may affect your non-compete. This discussion will also cover other restrictive covenants as these can also substantially limit a physician’s ability to practice medicine when they join, depart, or otherwise make transitions to or from a practice or hospital.

Focus on credentialing, National Practitioner’s Databank, and self-reporting. Karen will also update you on Texas HB 1998, which created new physician reporting requirements passed as a result of the “Dr. Death” case. Understanding these issues and requirements is crucial to protecting your professional record
