Chief Residents Association of Baltimore (CRAB)
2025-2026 Updates
Welcome Chief Residents!
We are excited to partner with you to help maximize your chief year and welcome you to the Chief Residents At Baltimore (CRAB) group of the Maryland ACP.
As part of CRAB we will ask your help in sharing information about events focused on residents and keeping us informed with how we can best support the work you do and the residents you are working with.
Thanks to Dr. Ram Bhutani, PGY-3 Assistant Chief Residents in Internal Medicine at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore for organizing this as an easy way to share resources and support each other for this year. Please ensure that we have your contact information for our WhatsApp CRAB group to streamline communication amongst chiefs.
- See the invitation link to join the WhatsApp group here: https://chat.whatsapp.com/HxWoRMsvFuwEPH7ILyP9wv
- Once you join, feel free to add your co-chiefs as well.
Meet your 2025-2026 CRAB Co-Chairs!

We’re excited to introduce our CRAB co‑chairs and share a bit about them and the great work they’ve been doing. Since stepping into their roles in August, they’ve made a tremendous impact on our MD ACP chapter—supporting and shaping events like our Soccer Tournament, Holiday Party, Nuts & Bolts for Abstracts/Posters, the weekly EKG Review, and our POCUS workshop.
We appreciate their energy, dedication, and how they have helped take CRAB to the next level.
Dr. Hee Jae Jung (UMMC/Midtown Campus)
Dr. Jung's focus is advancing medical education, strengthening resident engagement, and supporting the mission of the MD ACP chapter. One of his key goals is to build stronger communication networks across programs to promote all CRAB and ACP activities.
Dr. Ram Bhutani (Sinai)
Dr. Bhutani hopes to bring people together by organizing events of special interest to residents, and creating spaces where people feel connected. His main goal is to build a stronger, more joyful community among chiefs.
Dr. Ujjawal Paudel (St. Agnes Ascension Hospital)
Dr. Paudel would like to continue to foster academic exchange and create opportunities for residents and students to connect through scholarship and mentorship. He plans to focus on creating a high-quality, engaging program while ensuring smooth coordination and inclusivity.

CRAB Soccer Tournament

Our 11th Annual CRAB Soccer Tournament, held on September 25, 2025, was a fantastic success once again! We had teams from AAMC, GBMC, MHIM, St. Agnes, Sinai, UMMC/VA, and UMMC/Midtown, plus spouses and co-residents who came out to cheer and support.
The weather held off, and we were able to hold 12 very exciting matches, including several that ended in shoot outs. Congratulations to MedStar Health (MHIM) for taking home First Place, and to St. Agnes/Ascension for earning Second Place.
There was a strong sense of program pride and camaraderie on display, along with outstanding athleticism!
The CRAB Soccer Tournament continues to be the only one of its kind hosted by our chapters nationwide, earning the chapter a 2025 John Tooker Evergreen Award for being such an outstanding offering.
We love our Maryland residents, and are proud to support them however we can.
Thank you to everyone who played, cheered, stayed, and were so kind throughout the event.
Congratulations to ALL!
